Size Guides for Paper
31 May 2010
A paper heavier than 160 g is judged as a card. The excess weight of your ream consequently depends on the thickness from the report and its dimension. In Europe, the sizing method is founded on common width to height ratios for several traditional sizes.
The largest typical size document is A0 (A zero). Two sheets of A1, positioned upright side by side fit closely into 1 leaf of A0 laid on its side. Likewise, two sheets or leaves of A2 fit into 1 sheet of A1 and onwards. Ordinary sizes used inside home and the office are A3 and A4 (two A4 sheets is equals the dimension of A3).
The compactness of report arrays from 16 lb/ft3 (or 250 kg/m3) for tissue traditional to 94 lb/ft3 (or 1500 kg/m3) for some specialty document. About 800 kg/m3 (or 50 lb/ft3) is the thickness of printing paper size.
