Harris Benedict Equation vs. the BodyGem Indirect Calorimeter

The Harris Benedict Formula was developed in 1919 to calculate BMR.

The Harris Benedict Equation estimates a person’s Basal Metabolic Rate based on age, height and weight.

The problem is that that it doesn’t factor in variables such as:

Body composition, where more muscle increases metabolism
Thyroid issues, which can reduce metabolism
Certain hormones, which can increase or reduce metabolism
Pharmaceutical drugs, which can increase or decrease RMR

So instead of estimating BMR, you can scientifically measure it with a BodyGem Indirect Calorimeter.

The BodyGem test takes 5-10 minutes and it eliminates the variables, so that you can provide a scientific weight loss program.
