Omega-3 Fatty Acids: The New Player in the Food Game

In the past, fat has been cast as the villain when it comes to food.  For a long time, we were told to avoid fat at all costs – that a low fat diet was the key to avoiding heart attacks and keeping waistlines slim.  Nowadays, however, a new player has changed the game of food –fatty acid-omega-3s.  Omega-3 is key to a healthy diet, as studies are increasingly showing.  It promotes heart health and is proven to lessen the risk of heart attack and stroke.  It improves heart rhythm and prevents blood clotting as well.  Omega-3 fatty acid also boosts the immune system, helping us to fight everyday inflammation as well as more serious conditions such as asthma.  Finally, Omega-3 is proven to have a positive effect on mental health – something that in today’s world can’t be ignored.  Omega-3 fatty acids should not lack in anyone’s diet, especially with all the new knowledge now available about them.
