A fish tank is not complete without the aquarium gravel. The aquarium gravel does not only function as a substrate, but it also serves as a form of decoration. Aquarium gravel comes in light and dark colors, and the shades of the pieces vary. You can buy aquarium gravel from online pet supply shops as well as local pet stores. When buying aquarium gravel, you have to buy enough to create a substrate or aquarium bottom that’s approximately three inches deep. Before you put the substrate in your tank, you have to wash it thoroughly. Your gravel is ready to be placed inside the tank if the water used to wash it becomes clear.
