When You Put New Fly Fishing Line on Your Fly Fishing Reel
…make sure to not throw away that little sticker that comes in the package with your line. When you’ve amassed an amazing amount of spools and reels, it will come in handy to know what type of line is on your fly fishing reel. Another way to keep track of the line type is to mark it with hashmarks. A thin hashmark stands for ‘one’. A thick hashmark is ‘five’. So, a line with three thin and one thick hashmarks is an 8 weight line. If the thin hashmarks are in front of the thick, it’s a weight-forward line - behind and it’s a sinking line. Use a permanent marker.
